YoLidero is a leadership program for young people created with the purpose of generating a positive impact by combining values-based leadership development with the opportunity to exploit their full potential.
Each year’s curriculum is composed of 16 values that are developed through Transformation Tables led by the young people themselves, with the purpose of providing a space in which they can explore their individual potential, their leadership skills, and their ability to impact society.
Hope for Venezuela is currently implementing the program, reaching 500 adolescents by developing alliances with the Econciencia Foundation in community kitchens, educational institutions, and communities. With a group of 60 facilitators, we are currently developing needs surveys to take the program to other areas of the country.
The lack of professionals in schools is alarming due to the fact that teachers are not only those who know perfectly the specific contents to teach in the classroom, but also those who adequately handle pedagogy: the way, mechanisms, and criteria to teach classes, warned the coordinator of the Civil Association Con la Escuela, Óscar Rose.
In Venezuela, there is a deficit of teaching professionals. A study published by the Civil Association Con la Escuela in October 2023 revealed that 24% of the teachers surveyed are not graduates in the teaching career, that is, they are not qualified or trained to practice the profession. The results coincide with statements by some federations in the country that highlight the loss of around 25% of teachers due to low salaries. This alarming figure is evidence of part of the crisis that Venezuelan education has been going through for years, mainly due to the lack of investment by the State.
74.3% of non-graduate teachers are concentrated in pre-school and primary education. Meanwhile, by state, the state of Apure has the highest number of teachers who are not professionals in the area, with 31%. It is followed by the state of Zulia, with 21.7% of the entire sample analyzed by the organization, whose main purpose is to generate information in the public domain on the state of educational rights in Venezuela.

Her main functions include developing strategic plans in line with the foundation’s objectives, coordinating operations of programs and projects, and creating strategic alliances with other organizations, companies, or institutions to expand outreach, provide additional resources, and implement projects in the national territory.
The following ongoing campaign aims to raise funds for the collection of school supplies (notebooks, pencils, erasers, crayons, scissors, glues, rulers, backpacks, among others) and to send them to Venezuela.
